Technology Fee

Overview

In 2009, the University Board of Trustees, in accordance with Florida Statutes Section 1009.24 (13) authorized and established a technology fee to be paid by all students. The statute states "Each university board of trustees may establish a technology fee of up to 5 percent of the tuition per credit hour. The revenue from this fee shall be used to enhance instructional technology resources for students and faculty."

The University of South Florida institutions each retain a percentage of the Technology Fee dollars generated by their institution for use in support of their own Technology Fee projects. The remaining portion from each institution is allocated to the One USF. The University of South Florida initiatives will fund projects that enhance instructional technology across all of the University of South Florida institutions.

Submit a USF St. Petersburg campus request

To request Tech Fee funding for a USF St. Petersburg campus instructional technology initiative, send an email to STP-TechFee@usf.edu with the following information:

  • Contact information of the people/person making the request
  • A description of the request or the problem to be solved
  • Location that the technology will be used
  • Who will benefit from using the technology

An IT representative will reach out to you to start a concept proposal for your request.
