Steps to Graduation

1. Apply for your degree via Student Self-Service (formerly Student OASIS) by October 4 (ensures that your name will be listed in the online Commencement program). Note: the Graduation Date listed on Student Self-Service, is the date listed on your diploma and not necessarily the day you will participate in Commencement. Applying for your degree and registering to participate in Commencement are two different processes.

2. Attend Grad Stampede/Order Regalia
You may begin ordering your regalia (cap, gown, tassel), graduation announcements, invitations, and/or class rings the week of October 7. 

  • St. Petersburg campus Bookstore: October 7, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Tampa campus Bookstore: October 8 - 10, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Sarasota-Manatee campus Bookstore: October 16, 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

3. Register to participate in the Commencement (deadline November 27)

4. Check your account in Student Self-Service to ensure you have a $0 balance and no holds

5. Attend SAILebration (Spring and Fall only)

6. Check your email for ceremony updates

7. Students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, visit the USF Bookstore to purchase an honors
medallion 2 weeks prior to Commencement

8. International Students: pick up your international sash from International Student Services during the week of Commencement

9. Join your USF Alumni Association!

10. Be successful in your final exams, dissertation defense or thesis completion

11. Enjoy your Commencement ceremony and Congratulations on your graduation
from the University of South Florida!


APPLY TO GRADUATE.

Fall 2024 graduates must apply to graduate, via Student Self-Service, no later than October, 4 2024.

Spring 2025 graduates must apply to graduate, via Student Self-Service, no later than February, 21 2025.

On time application guarantees your name will appear in the online Commencement program.
