Embarking on the journey of transferring to a new educational institution is an exciting, yet meticulous, process that requires careful consideration and planning.
To ensure a smooth transition to USF St. Petersburg, we provide a comprehensive Transfer Checklist.
Before Applying
- Determine what type of transfer student you are at USF.
- Determine if your major has specific classes you need to complete before transferring.
- Review the application deadlines and timelines.
- Review admission requirements for your transfer type.
- Review all USF undergraduate major list. For majors offered on the St. Petersburg campus, see the USF St. Petersburg undergraduate majors list.
- Consider taking a campus tour.
Apply
Submit an application to USF and any supporting material such as official transcripts and
residency documents. Official transcripts can be requested through the current institution(s) to be sent
electronically or delivered in person by the Office of Admissions.

- Verify Your Contact Information: Sign into my.usf.edu and navigate to OASIS (Online
Access Student Information System); navigate to “Personal Information”; verify your address, telephone number, and email address. Also, do not forget to check your residency status to ensure you are charged the correct tuition rate. - Submit Your FAFSA: Make sure to add University of South Florida to your FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid
- Explore USF Scholarships: Check out additional scholarships by visiting Office of Financial Aid - Scholarships (usf.edu)
- Register for Transfer Student Orientation: The Office of Orientation welcomes and informs new transfer students, and their families. This is an opportunity to learn about university services, academic resources, policies and procedures, departmental information, and campus organizations. All new students must attend Orientation. - Complete Pre-Orientation Module: Pre-Orientation is housed in Canvas as a course to introduce you to the University's learning management system, such as making an appointment with your major academic advisor. The link to join the course will be in your confirmation email. Pre-Orientation is due one (1) week before your scheduled Orientation Session date. If you fail to complete Pre-Orientation by the deadline, your Orientation Session will be rescheduled for a later date.
- Connect with Your Academic Advisor: Some academic programs or departments
require enrollment confirmation, additional information, or your attendance at a special
orientation session to secure a place in the program. Contact your program advisor and for further instructions and learn about registering for courses: Academic Advisors in Each College | Academic Advising | USF St. Petersburg Campus - Submit Final Official Transcripts and Test Scores: Before the start of the semester,
submit your final official transcript(s) and official test scores. Official transcripts can be requested through the current institution(s) to be sent electronically to the University of South Florida. - Submit Your Medical History: If you have an Immunization Hold, you will need to take

- Transfer Student Organization: Consider joining our transfer student organization, Tau Sigma National Honor Society.
- Connect with Transfer Experience and Peer Coaches: New Student Experience recognizes and appreciates the uniqueness of our transfer student population.
