RA Selection & Application Process

The University of South Florida St. Petersburg Housing & Residential Education is recruiting Resident Assistants (RA) for the 2025-2026 academic year. An RA is a live-in student leadership role where they create a sense of belonging and community to a variety of student populations through hosting floor events, 1:1 interactions with their residents, and facilitating the residential curriculum. Our RA’s play a crucial role in creating a unique experience for our students.

2025-2026 APPLICATION INFORMATION & QUESTIONS 

The 2025-2026 RA Applications will open on November 8th, 2024 and will close on December 15th, 2024 at 11:59 PM

The job posting will be found on Handshake, USF St. Petersburg – TSE – Resident Assistant. You will submit your application utilizing the application form through Qualtrics. Click here for the application form.

The follow is required for your application to be completed: 

  • Your application must be submitted through the Qualtrics form and will not be accepted by email.
  • A copy of your resume.
  • Responses to the following questions. Each responses must be between 200-300 words. It is recommended to type all your responses in a separate word document, then paste your answers into the Qualtrics form.

1. What do you believe are two crucial components of the RA role? Provide an example of how you currently (or previously) exemplify these components?

2. The RA position adds an additional layer of commitment and responsibility. How do you prioritize responsibilities and manage your time successfully? What strategies would you implement to ensure good time management and organization for the role?

3. How will you role model self-care for the residents? What are 2-3 strategies you would use to take care of your personal wellness?

4. Community building is the central focus of being an RA. How would you define "community"? How would you build a welcoming & inclusive community? What steps are involved in building this community?

5. How would you work with someone of different values and/or background? Give an example of a time you had to work with someone different and how did you navigate this? What did you learn?
