Students deepen knowledge of local government and their role in it during Day at City Hall

By Cliff McBride, University Communications and Marketing

Once a year, USF St. Petersburg and student government organize a trip to city hall for students to engage with elected officials and see how local government operates.

The event offers a unique opportunity for students to learn more about issues impacting the community while exploring potential career pathways in public service. This year, participants toured city hall, attended a Q&A session with key officials and participated in discussions with St. Petersburg Mayor and USF alum Ken Welch about how students’ voices can be heard and impact city policies.

In all, the event helps to deepen students understanding of local government and their role in it.
