DeWayne Anderson’s main objective as assistant program director in the Office of Multicultural Affairs on the USF St. Petersburg campus is to make students feel welcome.
“People aren’t always going to remember what you say or what you do but, they will remember how you make them feel,” he said.
Anderson incrementally discovered his passion for diversity and inclusion leadership. As a young football player, he learned about teamwork from his coaches and father. As a student, Anderson leaned on mentors and colleagues to build a community of support. He now leads a team to develop programs that help foster diversity, equity and inclusion among the university community.
