Why Ask for Help
Overview
Here at the USF St. Petersburg campus, every community member wants to help because we all contribute to a culture of care. Unfortunately, even with the best intentions, not every staff or faculty member can reach every student who needs help. Research shows that help-seeking behaviors are one of the major skills that can enhance your experience in college. We want all members of our USF community to know that help is here for you, so don't forget to Ask for Help!
Studies show that asking for help leads to:
- more effective use of resources
- improved self esteem and confidence
- increased feelings of wellbeing
- improved senses of community
Research also shows that while faculty and staff want to be helpful to students, it's impossible for them to know everything. Knowing where to go and who to ask for help is important, which is why we created this initiative. We want to make it as easy as possible for you to ask for help by finding the resource and/or person that can help the fastest.
